The Windmill #3

by John

Hey guys. Sorry for the hiatus I’ve been taking. I just got distracted from Roc’s Cape for a bit. But that’s all over now!

Today, I’m back with the third installment of The Windmill (Huzzah!)!

If you’ll recall, the last article I wrote was an editorial calling for a remake of the oft-neglected Zelda II: The Adventure of Link. In that article, I mentioned that the game had some “boss music.”

Well, today’s Windmill is about some of the “boss music” (note: it’s not actually music from boss battles) presented within the game! Specifically, it’s a remix of the title, town, and overworld themes and it comes from housethegrate. Without further ado, I present you “Zelda II ‘Heroes Fall.'”

As you can see, the remix is composed solely of guitars. There are three of them to be exact. If you head over to the OC ReMIx page for the tune, you can read housethegrate’s thoughts on the piece.

I really enjoy the music from Zelda II and I think housethegrate managed to capture the essence of the game in “Heroes Fall.”

Do you like the piece? What should I write about in the next Windmill? Leave a comment with your thoughts and suggestions!

The Windmill is a weekly segment written by John that aims at sharing the music of The Legend of Zelda and the works it has inspired. The name comes from Kakariko Village’s Windmill (in Ocarina of Time), in which Guru-Guru can be found grinding his street organ.
